Yes, there are some high end places which inflate the price but the most part with happy hour specials I find the eats affordable. However, I guess affordable is relative. Tequila's is a great authentic experience and is located in Van Nuys. The neighborhood is not considered the best and the owner has actually opened a second location in Burbank. Off the beaten path locations tend to have more affordable meals. As for Mexico, yes I have been three times and you can't beat the food down there or the prices.
